Don't lose part of your photo
Many digital cameras make a 4x5.5 inch print If you choose 4x6 prints you'll lose some off the top and bottom of what you see on your camera view screen. Why not 4x6s?? It's what I want! The original digital cameras made an image that fit the shape of your computer screen! It's more square than a 4x6. Now you know!! Here's what you see on your camera's view screen:
This is also what you get if you choose 4x5.5 print size!
Here's what you get if you choose 4x6 :
It is a 4x6, but notice the top and bottom are trimmed Compare it to the first photo- the peak of the roof is gone!
How to determine if you will get a 4x5.5 image or a 4x6 image:
Divide the larger of the image resolution numbers by the smaller.
For example: if your camera file size is 3072 x 2048 and you divide 3072 by 2048 you get 1.5. That will give you a 4x6 print without losing any of the image on the print.
If your camera file size is say 2580 x 1932, then your result will be 1.33333 and your print size will be 4x5.5 to have the entire image on the print.
